If you're looking for an all in one product keep in mind the biggest difference between a Mac and a PC isn't the hardware, it's the operating system. When buying ignore the cheese heads who claim Apple is better, they are more expensive so I would expect them to be better, but have found they aren't any better than the average PC out there. Apple does a good job packaging their hardware to look better than Windows PC companies do, this doesn't make them better, just prettier. The iMac is a nice computer but browse any Apple forum and you'll find plenty that people complain about just like any other PC out there.įor the money you can buy a faster Windows PC but you won't find one designed as nicely as the iMac is. It's impossible to say which one crashes more but both do and ask any Mac expert or support person and they'll tell you Mac's crash plenty and ugly.Īpple makes PC's that are a closed system, ONLY Apple makes them so they better crash less, but that has not been my experience. I have been using both Apple and PC since both were invented. PC's only crash if bad software is installed or used or they are built by morons. Running the newest Microsoft Office for Mac suite on the unit - no problems, iPhoto library has about 32000 pictures - no issues, iMovie has a few crashing issues when building some projects - CPU will max out and system just locks - seen this on even 'beefier' Mac's. Also replaced the hard drive with a 7200 rpm 1TB unit. Since we bought it we have maxed out the ram to 4GB, this really made a difference and only cost about $60.00. Wish Apple still offered this size - even if we didn't have budget constraints the 27' unit would have been to large and the 21' just seemed too small. For the money this unit is a KILLER machine. Was looking for a iMac experience with a value price tag. Great value for a budget minded family computer.
